Also be sure to measure the bed frame, if you already have one. This will also need to fit within the headboard. The general rule when measuring the height of the headboard is this: measure half way up the wall of the room where the headboard will be placed against. Your headboard should never exceed this height! Try to find a headboard that either reaches half way or down to a few inches below that point. This will prevent the headboard from "crowding" and overpowering the room.
This size of bed doesn’t have to be minimal in design or comfort. One of the manufacturers we work with Nomad Furniture has developed a series of beds with headboards as well as a cot size daybed series. These beds incorporate a slat support system and are also available with customizable options that can increase the height of the headboard or designed for more space beneath the bed. Optional bed drawers on castors can be ordered which are independent of the bed system and simply roll beneath the beds. Our local mattress manufacturer has also designed a comfortable daily use 8 in. high density foam mattress for these beds so that individuals don’t have to sacrifice comfort by having a premium mattress option.
