The trick with a double bed is to simplify the entire look of the room (no clutter) and go with a more "reserved" look for the room. Keep the room as clean as possible; otherwise it may look as if the bed is lost at sea with your belongings! Another trick to give your double bed more of a profound appearance in the room is to invest in a good quality headboard. You may also want to consider finding a headboard with rounded edges to further compliment the simplified look.
Over the years I’ve spoken with a number of people about the need for a smaller than twin size bed. Often these individuals are trying to find something that can work for a cabin, for a small room or a tight space where typical beds just don’t seem to fit. Another need I’ve heard is to try and maximize the number of beds that can be placed into one room. The solution would be a bed size less wide than a standard twin but would have the same length and we refer to this in the industry as a cot size.
However, with passage of time, even this feature saw a change in it. Modern sleighs are well designed to pay greater emphasis to stress it more. The rationale behind doing so is to give sufficient room for comfort to its user and it normally helps in avoiding one’s head hitting on the curl. You can see the market being flooded with wide varieties of it, which is often preferred by those who want to make a style statement.
